Dawsons Engineering is chasing a skilled Fixed Plant Fitter & Turner to join a high-performing maintenance team on a permanent FIFO basis, flying out of Townsville.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, and associated systems
• Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs to minimise downtime
• Interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics to complete maintenance tasks
• Conduct inspections and condition monitoring of plant equipment
• Perform precision fitting, alignment, and installation of mechanical components
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site safety standards and procedures
• Accurately complete maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation
• Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and other trades to optimise plant performance
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and reliability enhancements

About You

• Trade qualified Fitter & Turner (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent)
• Previous experience in fixed plant maintenance within mining, quarrying, or heavy industry - 5 years or more
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
• Commitment to safety and adherence to site procedures
• Current driver’s licence (HR desirable)
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
• Confined Space and Working at heights tickets (Within 2 years) Or willing to obtain.
