Dawsons Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Workshop Manager to join our team.

Dawsons engineering is a lead engineering provider focused on steel fabrication, industrial piping,
project management and mining support with our clients predominately from the mining, heavy
industry, sugar, government and commercial sectors. Locally owned and operated for 37 years,
Dawsons is proud of their family business culture.

 

About the Role

As the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all workshop operations, ensuring projects
are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold safety and compliance with Dawsons policies, Australian Standards, and client requirements
  • Lead a positive and productive workplace culture
  • Plan and manage workflow, resources, and project timelines
  • Oversee job spend and profitability
  • Implement and manage ITPs, traceability documentation, and MDRs with support from our Quality Coordinator
  • Review and approve fabrication work and ensure quality assurance
  • Motivate, mentor, and supervise workshop staff
  • Communicate regularly with clients and stakeholders
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and quality

 

What We are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is not only technically skilled, but also a proactive leader and problem solver.

Essential Criteria:

  • Trade Certificate with 5-8 years experience in workshop environments, including leading hand roles
  • Strong knowledge of drawing interpretation, steel fabrication (structural, piping, platework)
  • Experience with quality control and safety standards
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Strong organisational, analytical and planning abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant standards including ISO 9001, AS 5131, AS 1554.1–6, AS 3992
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
