Dawsons has been providing shutdown support to the mining industry throughout Australia and south-east Asia for over 30 years. Our proven track record in mobilising safe, productive crews is unparalleled, with 8.4 million man-hours logged over 1,100 shutdowns.

The ability to manage large numbers of workers is one of our core strengths and we regularly mobilise crews of up to 250 workers for shutdowns throughout Australia. This is underpinned by the depth of experience in our crews and systems, and means we are able to manage shutdowns of all sizes and durations, in any location.

We are service focused and take the time to understand your requirements. Our labour hire coordinators are on call seven days a week with access to our database at all times, and are able to provide highly experienced professionals, para-professionals, trades and unskilled labour tailored specifically to your project.

We’re always ready to go. We believe in our ability to attract and retain the highest quality personnel and we use our own labour hire staff within the Dawsons workshops. Our workshops in Cairns, Townsville and Mt Isa are also geared to provide the complete shutdown support package, with off-site fabrication and mechanical repairs, tooling containers, craneage and vehicles able to mobilise at short notice.

Dawsons can provide all the manpower you need – from a single position through to an entire team – be it a casual, short-term or permanent staffing requirement.

Acid Plant Breakdown

Dawsons provided Supervisors, Trades and Pipe welders to complete a rebuild of a boiler in the Acid Plant after a malfunction. Our supervisors mobilised to assess the works and develop a repair schedule that was agreed on. The project was completed safely, on time and budget with good quality. Once complete the plant was brought back online with good output.

All mechanical planning, scoping and supervision for rebuild of blast furnace, lead plan, slag fumer plant and two new feed conveyors, and 430 personnel.

Mark Kerridge

HSEQ Manager

Flexible – and that’s before he started wearing Lycra. Mark joined Dawsons in 2013 in our Corporate Safety Manager role. He stepped up to the plate as the Labour Hire Manager, shortly after he progressed into the role of Training Manager, and is now the go to man for all things safety as the HSEQ Manager. Mark has lived #whateverittakes and under his stewardship, Dawsons Training has expanded its offering of High Risk Training courses and now provides specialist Confined Space Rescue crews to clients in Marine, Mining and Government.

Chantal Perkins

Labour Hire Manager

Chantal has demonstrated that working mothers can slay it. She is super organised and manages the Labour Hire department between Cairns and Townsville, making sure all of our employees feel like part of the fam. Chan grew up in Mt Isa and lived in Townsville before settling in Cairns. Regularly organising shutdown crews of 150 and recruiting for specialist project roles, while keeping cool, calm and collected, Chan is a superstar.

Cam Loudon

Project Manager

One of our old boys, Cam (aka Bully) was part of the pioneering Dawsons crew of the 1990’s, working on jobs in mines and mills up and down the Queensland coast with Keith Dawson as the ringleader. A ringer at heart, Bully did leave the beautiful shores of Oz for a number of years to work internationally with ABB installing mills. When he came home, he came home to the family. Bully is our man on the spot and is able to turn his hand to whatever project we need him on. He’s our go to man for construction projects, shutdown supervision, labour hire training and cattle mustering.
