Dawsons has the ability to manage a project from design through to fabrication and installation. In over 30 years of operation, we have been involved in projects as diverse as structural refurbishments of mine processing plants, fabrication of pressure vessels in SAF2507; design and construction of mine camps and process plants; to the installation of an underground crusher.
We understand that our clients operate in a 24/7 environment and we manage projects between our workshops to ensure that even the tightest deadlines are met. We don't rely on third parties for supplementary labour – all of our projects are resourced internally. We also own our fleet of trucks, cranes and site tooling so that we maximise control of deadlines and quality at every stage of a project.
Supply of 85T of grade A283C plate, fabrication of 2 x dome roofs and rolled strake sections. Site works included removal of the existing dome roofs and top strakes. Repairs to the existing shell, installation of the new top strakes, internal stiffeners and dome roofs.

Installation of new 20KL FRP sodium hypochlorite storage tanks, a new chemical dosing panel and dual-wall piping. The scope also covered electrical works, SCADA integration, building modifications, access platforms, civil works, chemical-resistant coatings and safety shower installation.

Replacement of a CN2600 Butterfly Valve and 2 DN1200 Main Inlet Valves. Works involved the removal of the existing 50 year old valves, installation of new valves, pipework modifications, hydraulic works, electrical works and new access platforms.

Installation of client supplied piping, associate tanks and pumps. Approx 2km of site run PVC piping. Pilot plant with new technology and hard deadline for commissioning required a high degree of flexibility and active problem solving from our supervisor and trades.

Dawsons provided the supply, fabrication, installation and commissioning for the Diamantina and Leichardt Power Station Fire System Upgrade. The works were completed around steam and gas turbines, the central control room, power building and generator.

The 3m diameter ducting ran was fabricated to replace ducting that runs between Lead Smelter Sinter Plant and the Stack Extraction Fan approximately 80m in length. We carried out the fabrication, trial assembly and delivery to the site and later carried out the installation.

Whatever it takes. Since joining Dawsons from John Holland in 2010, Brad has led the Townsville division's delivery of large multi-disciplinary projects at Mt Isa, Gunpowder Mine, QNI, Sun Metals and Townsville Waste Water Treatment Plant. A North Queensland local and Mechanical Engineer, Brad has extensive experience in project management and has worked on most of the major operating sites in North West Queensland. Brad is no shrinking violet and leads from the front with the fitness and wellbeing fads that pass through the Townsville office.
A Miriwinni local, Shaun started as Dawsons Estimator in Cairns in 2003 and what a ride it's been for us all. Shaun has been instrumental in the successful execution of key contracts and projects at most sites Dawsons operates at. Shaun has proven to be versatile and has grown with the business to apply his expertise across our Heavy Engineering and Civil Construction divisions.
Sometimes mistaken for Sharon's son, Andy has been the embodiment of #whateverittakes. He has been Site Manager at GEMCO and Phosphate Hill and is now responsible for contract delivery and performance for Dawsons workforce in Mt Isa and its surrounding areas. Andy's stunt double is often seen managing shutdowns or small projects on other sites. Andy has a very understanding wife and ridiculously sporty offspring.
